I’m the happiest when I can create. It doesn’t matter what it is–a meal, a sewing project, a photographic image or collage. I just NEED to always be making something! I love being inspired by what is around me, as well as the work of others. I often wonder if other people “see” things the way I do, because I am so overwhelmed with the color in things and the way it can make me feel. It’s invigorating. Right now, my passion is photography.
I have worked in a large Commercial Studio for Sheplers (the “world’s largest western-wear clothing store”), and in a local photo lab. Both for a total of the last 8 years of my life. I own a DSLR camera and love using it because it gives me ease of access to manipulate the images I am able to capture. I have worked on other photographers images when I worked in the photo lab and as a freelance Digital Imager. Through these jobs, I learned a lot about lighting, styling, and working with the client to help not only make them presentable, but to make them feel at ease so they could bring out their best through the image.
I have a background in fine arts and that taught me all about color, composition, and creativity. Being technical in photography is not enough. You need those 3 “C’s” for it all to click! I am by no means a pro — yet. But if you want to call me a “natural,” I’ll accept that title gladly!
I’ve also done work as a lampshade maker. I did that for 12 years and started to phase out of that little by little when I became a single parent. It’s called “needing a steady paycheck and benefits” to be able to raise my two children alone. But during the time I was doing the lampshades, I had some pretty exciting jobs. I did the lampshades for the AirForce One plane(s) during the Bush administration, and I did the lampshades for the Prince of Saudi Arabia’s plane! I felt so honored and special to do those projects. I also did a lot of work for Interior Designers and just regular folk off the street.
I am working on some things to get back into the lampshade business soon, hopefully. You’ll see those things here when I get everything settled.
…and, I love to write. I always have lots going on in my head and am forever contemplating the things that go on in the world around me. So, if you like to read, you’ll definitely want to keep checking back here.
Love and Peace,
